2013

Oh shoot. 2013 is almost over. Time sure does fly. Throughout this year, there's been:
smiles
tears
hugs
new friends
laughter
anger
Pretty much any emotion you can think of, I've experienced it this year!

One year ago, I would never imagine myself where I am right now. This year, I got a job at Midway Duck Inn and I still work there to this day. I've met some amazing people there. I also got baptized this year! That was a huge step for me. I also experienced my first firefighter funeral this year. That was definitely an experience. I went to fire school down in Champaign for the first time during June. Despite the hot weather and unexpected downpour of rain, I learned a lot and look forward to going again next year. I also went down to Petersburg for my yearly mission trip. My life was touched and I think I touched a few lives as well. I started my senior year this year! What a rollercoaster ride that has been so far. And it's already half over! I'm also starting to get some symptoms of senioritis. And last but definitely not least, a couple weeks ago an army recruiter called me and asked me what my plans were after high school. I was still undecided at that time. I agreed to go to the army office and have a little chat. Long story short, I'm in the process of joining the army! In the timespan of a week, I've taken an ASVAB test and went up to Chicago for MEPS which is the physical to get in the army. There was a minor setback with my eyes since I have such bad vision. But I'm pretty confident that won't stop me. I can't wait to see what 2014 brings me. If this army thing works out, I'll hopefully be in basic training in September and starting my life. :-)

Week 14

This might sound really cliche, but, I wouldn't change a thing. Everything that has happened in my life, whether it be good or bad or somewhere in between, has happened for a reason. Even though at the time of the terrible things happening, I wish I could go back and do something different in hopes that it would make it better. But in the long run, I find out why it happened. One of my favorite quotes is "Sometimes, things fall apart so better things can fall together." So whenever someone asks me if I would go back and change something in my past, I say no because it has shaped me into the person I am today. :-)

WINTER SUCKS

For those of you that are unaware of what snow is, you are one lucky dog. Snow is the worst thing in existence. If you hate rain, you will definitely hate snow. Snow is semi-frozen rain. It comes out of the sky in little white flakes like dandruff. Then when it reaches the ground, the snow doesn't always melt. Sometimes it accumulates and makes a white blanket on the ground. It makes it harder to drive and it's very cold outside so that's a definite negative. Then when it finally decides to melt, it turns into this nasty, muddy slush. When you drive in it, it makes your car look terrible. So if you live somewhere where it never snows, I recommend that you stay there and never leave.
